Could somebody do me some math ^^
I am not a math miracle at all, but i know some of you are. Last time somebody did some amazing number crunching on here, so i call upon your services again.
Okay, onto the subject. I am currently at lucky tier 3 (256k), and unlucky 2 (19.9k). Chesthunter is at 3 (578). I was wondering 2 seperate things. I need to max 2 more titles, and i was thinking about chesthunter, lucky or drunkard. I know how much drunkard costs, but i don't know about the other 2. My lockpicks have costed 1200 gold each. On lucky: if i were to max it opening 50g chests, how much would this cost me in theory (please also include updated chances of retaining if you progress through ranks) Keep in mind i already have 256k lucky points, so i would need 2244k more. On chesthunter: what is best? Should i start running hard mode locked chests right from the start (25% retention rate)? Should i do 600g chests? (55% retention rate). Should do do type X first and swap later? If so, when? |

I've been working on a Lucky/Unlucky calculator for the festival tickets, but I will expand this to include the chest titles based on your question as its bothering me now! Was planning to get it released for this years festival, but rl and "build for release" issues got in the way. I'll get back to it tonight and message you when its done (should be today or tommorow).

I'm not in the mood to do math, but I don't need a calculator to tell you the best way to get Lucky and Treasure Hunter.
Run 50g chests with lockpicks, once Lucky is at a good rank (say rank 5), and provides better retaining, then start running 600g chests (don't bother running HM chests unless your wanting unlucky too). When you start running the high end chests, you should have an additional 19% chance to retain, so with the 55% you have now (just adding 4% as your ranks are 3 and 3) it will be 59%. Maxing Lucky will help more with retaining for Treasure hunter, increasing the retention rate to 61%, which decreases the amount of money you need. So if you choose to max Lucky and Treasure Hunter, first run 50g chests with lockpicks until rank 4 or more (best would be maxing out) in Lucky, then start running 600g chests (and NOT Hard Mode chests). Seeing how the cost all depends on your luck, it can cost from 1.5k (EXTREMELY lucky and 99.99999% unlikely to happen) to 14,133,000 gold (worst case scenario, just as unlikely to happen as the best case). Average chance of your cost should be 5,511,870 gold (this is just taking 61% out of the worst case scenario). Also, there is to mention that you will be selling the stuff you get our of chests, so that will decrease overall costs as well. So, it may cost around 5 million gold in total, of course all based on your luck. How the price for maxing the Treasure Hunter title by using lockpicks seems to work much like Pascal's Triangle, most likely to happen is the direct middle, which, in this case, is around 5 million gold. I guess I was in the mood for math... |

Thanks, azazel (my picks are 1200g, though), and tasha thanks in advance.
Azazel, as normal 50g chests have a 73% retain and normal 600g chests have 55, would it not be better (if you want both) to do 600g chests since they count for both, the drops are better, and the % is only 18% off. |

So where to run the 50g chests? Well that is a good question indeed.
There is no good spot just for chests. I normally run Fort Ranik mission myself and collect carvings. There are 3 chests there that you can find. If you kill everything you can get 28-35 carvings + drops. This can take 10 minutes or so. You can sell the carvings for 5K per stack. That will give you 4 more lock picks. Seriously though. I would go to Eye of the north, Boreal station and go outside there and kill the snow wurms and open the chests in mormal mode. The wurms drop lockpicks and you should get one for every 10 runs of killing. I can kill all 13 snow wurms solo in under 5 minutes. You can open a chest in one minute if you run there +33% running bonus. In addition to that the drops are much better. I have gotten Platinum Blades Req9 2 of them and some dragon's breath wands 3 of them and one Forget me not inscription +20% that I sold for 25K which is another 20 lockpicks. This will pay for itself as well. If you do hard mode you get Max drops from chests but you always break the lockpick.. well not always but almost always. 10% chance of retaining or something like that. The wrums will drop 100 gold at a time and anything that is a white drop is worth at least 50 gold at the merchant. This is what I was doing to get my legendary Survivor Title as well. If you do not have that title then you can combine these 4 titles together all at once since the lucky and unlucky are ACCOUNT based. Just a thought. Oh also it is impossible to die killing snow wurms. They simply are meele attackers. If you back up they stop attacking you. IF you are ranged you can do the survivor title in the buff as it were. Just a thought. |

I think its more of a matter of preference for whether to do the 50g chests or just skip them. 18% can make a big difference in terms of how many lockpicks you retain.
And redoing the math to fit the 1200g cost, worst case is 11,306,400 gold and average would be 2,908,224*Lucky part, very rough guess* + 4,409,496g*Treasure Hunter part*, so 7,317,720g, but you would have even more drops so this is probably far from the turnout. In consideration of the drops, it will probably range around 1 million gold if everything is sold at merchant price, making the total cost roughly 6.5 million. If you just go straight to the 600g chests, the price would roughly average to 5087880g. With the selling of what you get, it will probably get around half a million, give or take, so making the total cost roughly 4.5 million. This is all the absolute middle of price chances, so the actual cost will vary, the prices above are just the most likely price to occur, that is, if my math is right. The way you do it is still a matter of preference, as these prices will not be the actual price, just average. Also, for the prices, I put everything off on the percentages of retainment that you currently (excluding the treasure hunter, which is based on max Lucky and rank 3 Treasure) have, so the average for the end price will actually be lower then what I have stated above in both posts. |
